Lust to unrighteousness

Lust… are we free from it or a prisoner to it?

I remember one story of a father who bought a cute pet and brought it home. His family loved this pet; they fed, cared, and nurtured it; till’ it grew bigger and bigger. As the pet grew older and could freely roam inside the house, there very own son was devoured by this pet. They ignored that the python will soon consume any of them.

The lesson is this, though lust will give us harm, we keep on feeding, caring, and making it as a cute pet. By simply taking a glimpse to nude billboards, magazines, pornographic sites, sexy bodies in the street, and entertaining lust on our mind. But one day this lust will soon destroy us and make us helpless.

Humanly speaking, lust excites and brings pleasure. The more we indulge on it and keep it in our very hearts and mind, the great we will never be satisfied and be in bondage from it. I once a victim from lust. I tried to help myself not to lust with somebody but never realized that every time I relied to myself I became a failure. I never asked God for help until I committed the worst thing that degraded my being and the person whom I lusted with. The trust and the confidence to oneself fade in just a blink of an eye.

Friends, may we realize that lust separates different kinds of relationship and destroy the very inner of soul. Let us not wait before it’s too late to regret what we did because of lust. Let’s keep on looking and praying to God that He will enable us to overcome and to flee from temptation. One day we all stand to the Holy God and held accountable to what we have done.

In my case, I must to face the consequences of what I did because of lust. I can’t change the past but I must to face what lies ahead. I must to ask God for forgiveness of my lust that leads me to act wickedly.

God heals and forgive if we truly and genuinely repent. We can’t destroy lust into ourselves but we can overcome it with the help of the amazing grace that only Jesus Christ can give.

Heavenly Father,
We are in bondage to sin,
Our pride, lust and sinfulness depart us from You.

Forgive us Lord for being lustful and never followed Your will.
We treat You so small that we never relied and be dependent in You alone.
Help us to overcome lust that promises excitement and pleasure but will lead us to the grave.

Cleanse us Lord and redeem us by Your blood.
Help us to overcome Satan’s scheme and temptation.
And allow the Holy Spirit to reign in us and be our Comforter and Strength.
In the mighty name of Jesus… Amen

  1. Absolutely true, lust can devour us if we entertain it in our mind and heart, the secret weapon is to pray to God. As what the apostle Paul says: " In everything you say and do, whether you eat or drink, do it all for the glory of God.."
