II Samuel 12

This chapter deals the aftermath of David's sin with Bathsheba and her husband Uriah. We see the Lord in action when He send Nathan to David to tell the king a parable about the case between the rich man and the poor man. In this parable, we see how Nathan tricks David and to give a verdict in this case when he confronts the king and tells him that he is the rich man who treated the poor man unfairly. As I ponder on to Nathan's action, I was reminded of Paul's letter to the Galatians to help restore a brother who was in sin (Gal. 6:1-2). By the revelation of God, Nathan tells David what the Lord has done to him. How he became king and was famous. But David did evil things in the eyes of the Lord by committing adultery with Bathsheba and struck down Uriah her husband.

After David heard all the charges against him. He directly ask God for forgiveness and because of the faithfulness of God, He has taken away the sins of David (v.13). Though, David was forgiven he must to face the consequences of his sin and that his son to Bathsheba will die (v.14). In the latter part of the story was the consequences of his sin, the anguish of David over the illness of his child. When the child was dead, David wash himself and worship God. This indicate that David was now restored and that he was now willing to submit himself to the will of God. In verse 24 is the birth of Solomon and that the Lord love him. And the rest of the chapter 12 is the triumph of David in his military pursuit.

There are times that we commit sin. But God is so faithful and righteous to us. He never leaves us nor forsake us, and that He is willing to forgive us despite of our unfaithfulness to Him. But in every sin we committed there is also a consequences to face. So, be strong in that consequences because it is also a test of our faith. God loves us so much, that He died on the cross to save us from our iniquities and unrighteousness. So lets be still and stand firm that He is our God.
